Katsina Police Record Major Breakthroughs, Recover AK-47 Rifles and Large Quantity of Drugs in November
The Katsina State Police Command has reported substantial progress in its ongoing operations against violent crime and drug trafficking, announcing multiple arrests and the recovery of arms, ammunition, vehicles, and illicit substances in November.
The Command’s spokesperson, DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, briefed journalists on Wednesday at the Command Headquarters in Katsina, detailing the outcome of security operations carried out across the state.
According to him, the Command received 123 crime reports during the month under review and recorded notable successes across key crime categories. Twenty-two suspects were arrested in connection with armed robbery, while seven others were taken into custody for alleged involvement in homicide.
Four suspects were arrested for currency counterfeiting, and 20 others were apprehended over cases of rape and sodomy. The Command also arrested 10 suspects for drug-related offences.
Items recovered during various operations include:
• Three AK-47 rifles
• Twenty-four rounds of ammunition
• Five suspected stolen motorcycles
• Four vehicles: a Toyota Corolla, two Volkswagen Golf cars, and a Peugeot 406
• 200,000 tablets of Exzol
• 3,720 tablets of Tramadol
• Sixty-seven wraps of cannabis
• A 50-metre high-tension electricity cable
DSP Aliyu reiterated the Command’s resolve to intensify efforts against drug abuse and all forms of criminality, noting that safeguarding lives and property remains central to its mandate.
He urged residents to continue cooperating with security agencies by providing timely information that could assist ongoing investigations and crime-prevention efforts.
